So of course, I had to try my hand at roping. You’re laughing already, right? I even got two ropes
(or is that “lariat,” sigh). Nope, not quite ready for tricks. Just trying to get it over the fence post. Once.
I also got the plastic steer head in pink, stuck it in a hay bale, tried roping it for hours. Hey, don’t laugh.
I got it three times. I’m sure I could do better after a couple of beers.
I loved looking at my two ropes all coiled, stacked casually on top of each other on the old barn porch.
Except that it wasn’t my barn porch, so I took them home and stacked them casually… on my living room
coffee table, in the suburbs. Wasn’t quite the same.
Since what I do is make bags for horse stuff, of course I made a bag for my ropes. The gusset is mesh, which
is good ventilation if you throw your sweaty gloves in there after a long day ropin’. To tell the truth, I put
the mesh in so when I put my bag on my living room shelf (I cleared out the books to make a perfect space
for it), I can see my ropes through the side… and it makes me completely happy.
That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!
